Jefferson Township is a Township of the Second Class, located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The Township is governed by the Board of Supervisors who each serve a 6-year term. Municipal offices are located at 487 Cortez Road, Jefferson Township PA 18436 and regular hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to promote the health, safety and well-being of the Jefferson Township community by providing residents, visitors and the business community with the highest quality of municipal leadership, service as well as strategic and effective planning in order to enhance the quality of life for all. Agricultural Security Advisory Committee - Volunteer Opportunities

The Board of Supervisors is seeking to fill the following board vacancies:(5) Agricultural Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) members. Membership need to be comprised of (3) active farmers, (1) resident, and (1) chairperson ( may be a township supervisor).The ASAC works in conjunction with the Planning Commission and reviews applications, provides expert advice, and makes recommendations for acceptance/denial when properties apply to be included in the Township's Agricultural Security Area.Interested residents should forward a letter of interest to the Board of Supervisors at: info@jeffersontwplackawanna.gov or mail to 487 Cortez Rd., Jefferson Township, PA 18436.

We Need You - Zoning Hearing Board Alternate, Volunteer Opportunities

The Board of Supervisors is seeking to fill the following board vacancies:(2) - Zoning Hearing Board Alternate Members. Attends Zoning Hearing Board hearings and will fill in as a voting member if there is an absence/lack of quorum. The Zoning Hearing Barod hears appeals to the Zoning Officer's determinations, variance requests and challenges. Sewer Authority Meeting

Jefferson Township Sewer Authority will hold their regular business meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. with a work session at 5:30 p.m. as needed.
